I included Aguhar's obituary here because I could tell her work (and Aguhar herself) were important to a lot of people locally. I respect that. That alone told me that there was more to her work than I initially saw.

I can't help but being a straight, white (bald, fat) man (with crooked teeth). And I apologize to no one for my love of ass.

But I want this blog to be inclusive. I would love to publish work by non-straight, non-white, non-bald, non-fat, women (or men) with perfect teeth (or any combination of the above). I'm serious. I've asked writers and they generally prefer to write for Glasstire (which pays cash money). Any volunteers? There are several posts that specifically refer to the use of "she/they" vs. "he":
http://calloutqueen.tumblr.com/post/18395271189/i-think-in-at-least-3-wide-critique-situations-in

I understand these issues may be tricky territory when it comes to you personally reviewing exhibitions (in preference of photos of female butts at art fairs), but to dismiss it because you don't relate is kind of part of the point of Mark's blog.

If the issue of gender is difficult for you, I also recommend checking out this amazing project by a group of local artists, as it helped me understand a lot: http://www.thegenderbook.com/.

To quote Mark's last entry on calloutqueen.tumblr.com "LOL WHITE MEN BORE ME".

Love,
DennisDennis nancehttp://dennisnance.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633621665763939304.post-73751826842265910492012-03-18T18:12:55.171-05:002012-03-18T18:12:55.171-05:00I did change the pronouns but I was a bit uncomfor...I did change the pronouns but I was a bit uncomfortable doing so because I don't know who you are and with what authority you speak. Are you a friend or family member of Aguhar? Most who knew Mark well refer to her with female pronouns. It would be much appreciated if you edited this post to respect her identity. Thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
