I was 13 and had my first camera. I still have that photo. In the same room was a sculpture of a horse that as you walked around it, it became a locomotive engine. I have searched for years about that piece but to no avail. That began my love of sculpture and wondering what the other side looked like.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633621665763939304.post-10004735951886511312022-06-05T10:54:45.049-05:002022-06-05T10:54:45.049-05:00Thank you for such a well written and informative ...Thank you for such a well written and informative article!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633621665763939304.post-19626303882347525102022-05-09T07:42:06.005-05:002022-05-09T07:42:06.005-05:00I don't know if we've ever met, but belate...I don't know if we've ever met, but belated thanks. Anyway, the new blog is here: https://thegreatgodpanisdead.substack.com/

I have revitalized (I hope) my blog and cover a slightly broader range of topics. I still write about comics and art, but now touch on music, literature, history, and anything else that interests me at a given moment.

I think Westwind should be more widely acknowledged as a master and that Grip is an important work. Thanks for your overview, and also for your tip to the podcast which I have never listened to. The reason I have this comic is that a former student, MIa, wrote an honors thesis with me on poetry comics. I also follow a woman who knows experimental comics very well, her name is Kim, she's on Goodreads, who like your Comics Burning in Hell guys said it was in her top comics of the decade. Only a handful of people are into these comics, in spite of our best efforts, but in my Goodreads review I'll link to yr book report site. Oh, and I teach graphic novels and comics at the University of Illinois Chicago, though only for about a decade now, so I'm not a scholar or anything. Paul is clearly a shit in many ways. That New York story with his teacher in "Moves Out" is SO problematic on both their parts. And he is not hiding that at all. A cherry tree doesn't make him any less an old bitter asshole in "At Home." But at least be an interesting asshole. The need perhaps to have things have a little bow on top. Part of what intrigued me about it was that almost all the other books were extremely optimistic. I didn't expect him to divorce Lucie based on what had come in the other books. The Song of Roland is more emotional (and even more manipulative with its ending), but I found Paul at Home more true.
Robert Boydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10832011160514073833noreply@blogger.com
