The Many Identities of Shea Hembrey

by Robert Boyd

I went to TedxHouston last Saturday, and it was great. Only one of the talks had to do with art, but it was interesting and I'll post it here if they put it up online. But in the meantime, here's a talk by an artist named Shea Hembrey where he describes his project of creating a biennial featuring multiple artists from many countries with a twist--all the artists are him. When he described it, I thought the art would be terrible, but actually it was pretty interesting. He made a point of creating art that was diverse and distinct but also interesting. He's like the Fernando Pessoa of the art world!
