Pete Gershon



Pete Gershon is the author of Painting the Town Orange: The Stories Behind Houston's Visionary Art Environments. He was the editor and publisher of Signal to Noise from 1997 tp 2013. During that time, the quarterly journal pf improvised and experimental music was nominated eight times as "Best Periodical Covering Jazz" by the Jazz Journalists Association and for "Best Arts and Creativity Coverage" by the UTNE Reader in 2004. He currently coordinates the Core Residency Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and is editing the forthcoming monograph on the life and work of Bert L. Long, Jr., one of Houston's most iconoclastic and beloved artists. He studied literary nonfiction with writer Michael Lesy at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, and is working towards a masters degree in library and information science at the university of North Texas in Denton.
