This weekend is going to be bananas! Between Thursday and Sunday, I count 15 art openings happening. And that's not counting the Lone Star Performance Explosion, which starts Thursday night (at Diverse Works), continues Friday (Avant Garden) and concludes Saturday night (Notsuoh).
Now usually I could handle this. If I miss a few openings on Friday night, I can just go see the shows during the day on Saturday. And I'll drop in early before the official opening if I have to. But, the big problem is that Saturday's openings are mostly in Galveston. There is no way I can see these shows Saturday and still go to the Lone Star Performance Explosion Saturday night.
So... If you find yourself in Galveston Saturday, and you find yourself particularly moved by what you see at Galveston Art Center or Avis Frank Gallery or any other place in Galveston, The Great God Pan would like to hear from you! Snap a few photos, write up some impressions of what you see, and we'll gladly publish it. I'm trying to step up our Galveston coverage, and it's really bugging me that I can't be there Saturday. So Galvestonians--tell me what you think of this weekend's shows! (Email me at robertwboyd2020@yahoo.com.)
